Learn to Read, Read to Learn

Summer Reading

Summer is a great time to find a new book and read!

For students going into 6th grade, I recommend Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls, Guys Write For Guys Read , edited by Jon Scieszka, or the series How I Survived Middle School, by Nancy Krulik.  For 7th graders, I recommend a series of baseball books, Satch and Me, Shoeless Joe and Me, Jackie and Me, Babe and Me, and Honus and Me, all by Dan Gutman.

For our soon to be graduates, I recommend Hatchet, Brian’s Hunt, or any Gary Paulsen book, or Night, by Elie Wiesel.

Visit your newly opened Eisenhower Library and talk to the librarians.  Tell them what you are interested in and they will help you find a book.

Just Read!

Have a great summer!
